As a nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologist, Rachel Lugassy believes in a holistic, child-centered approach to therapy—one that nurtures not only communication skills but also self-confidence and emotional well-being. She creates a safe and supportive space where children feel comfortable expressing themselves, targeting individualized goals tailored to each child’s unique cultural, linguistic, cognitive, and educational needs. Her multi-sensory approach supports visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners, ensuring therapy is engaging, effective, and responsive.

 

Rachel has experience providing speech and language therapy to children aged two- twenty-one, specializing in working with preschool and school-aged children with a wide range of speech and language challenges, including articulation and phonological disorders, expressive/ receptive language delays, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), intellectual disabilities (ID), learning disabilities (LD), executive functioning disorders, fluency disorders, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and more!

 

Rachel Lugassy received her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and New York State License and Certification in Teaching Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). She received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Indiana University and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Columbia University Teachers College. Rachel is Level 1 trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets).
